Andrés’s Reporter’s Notebook #2: Beautiful Improvisation

By Andrés Caballero

From start to finish, working in Cameroon was a real challenge driven by significant improvisation. From church to church, I visited Pentecostal pastors all over the country. I watched how the rise of a fast-growing religious movement threatened the Cameroonian government and pushed them to clamp down on churches.

I visited state hospitals, slums, fancy government offices and neighborhood clinics. I crammed in the back of cars and buses and travelled to and from Anglophone and Francophone Cameroon. I saw beautiful and horrible things. —AC
